Hi Maria K. Alexander! Thanks for dropping over to hangout with us. Please tell us about your book "Awaken My Heart".
It’s a second-chance at love contemporary romance set in Philadelphia. Detective Nick DiFrancesco is down on his luck. His drug-trafficking case is cold, his kids blame him for his divorce, and he’s one step-away from moving in with his parents to save money. When he runs into Ashley O’Neil, a girl he had an affair with over fourteen years ago, he’s reminded of their steamy night together and wants to see her again. Little does he know she’s kept a secret from him—one that impacts him where it counts most…family. But when a lead in his case puts him in Ashley’s path, they’ll need to set aside their painful past in order to fight for justice and risk it all for love.
At what point did you know you wanted to publish a book?
I've always been an avid romance reader. I started writing a story in high school but never finished. Nine years ago I decided to take the plunge, joined a romance writing organization, and took several online classes.
If your home a place of order or chaos?
I like to think of it as organized chaos. With two teenagers and a husband, it's never neat, but I generally know where to find things!
What genres do you write in and what inspired you to write in these genres?
I write contemporary romance. I write what I primarily read. I enjoy stories and characters people can relate to. Reading is a way to escape to another place. I enjoy creating realistic characters, believable problems, and happily-ever-afters.
What is our favorite drink?
What is your writing place like?
A small desk in my living room. Not private and full of too many distractions from my family.
What's next for you as an author?
I've written a novella-length Christmas story in the Tangled Hearts series and am working on a new series.
It's been great having you on.
