‘You can’t be serious?’ Allegra gasped
The Goddess of chastity couldn’t believe this was happening, as she looked around her father’s study, they’d had guests for the past week, peace talks were taking place between the leaders of each supernatural group, there was a witch, a vampire, werewolf, siren, nymph and all sorts of beings crawling around her home, as her father was the God of oaths he was conducting the meetings, all she’d heard was a lot of shouting so obviously the meetings would go on for longer until they could reach a compromise. She wouldn’t have minded so much except for that damned were bear! He was forever appearing out of nowhere and would try to flirt with her it was embarrassing, she was a goddess! The only way he would be her equal would be if he was a God, but she hadn’t been able to get that through to him no matter how many times she’d told him and now because he wouldn’t take get lost creep for an answer. They were stood in her father’s study like naughty children her father looking disapproving and her mother the Goddess of marriage looking horrified. As she turned to where he stood she couldn’t believe how unaffected he looked, he was leaning against the bookshelf looking more bored than anything he didn’t look like someone who had just been told he had to marry her or suffer the wrath of hell!
‘I am deadly serious Allegra, there’s no other way, you only have yourself to blame’ her father said sternly from where he sat behind his large cream colored desk ‘you knew the repercussions, as the Goddess of chastity you are to remain untouched by males until marriage or at the very least until it’s with a man you intend to marry! And if not everyone here in this household will be subjected to the wrath of hell, so what would you have me do?’
Drake the head vampire suddenly spoke up from beside Allegra
‘I think Sir it’s obvious what Allegra and Rogue must do, but I’m afraid there’s something I must be doing, so if will please excuse me’
‘Yes of course’ said Allegra’s father sounding tired ‘and thank you for bringing this to my attention.’
Drake gave a slight bow and turned to leave the room but not before catching Allegra’s eye and winking! Allegra could feel her blood boil, that bloodsucking jerk had done this on purpose he was enjoying stirring up trouble, she had explained to Drake what had happened when he’d caught Rogue and herself in their compromising position, he’d just smirked at her and told her if she’d wanted him to keep quiet she should have come up with a better explanation, she was insulting his intelligence by insisting Rogue had just tripped up, he’d then gone straight to her father. ‘Findus surely there must be something we could do?’ Allegra’s mother Candia interrupted her thoughts of how many ways she could torture a vampire ‘after all Allegra has protested her innocence and surely we can’t expect her to marry one such as him?’
Allegra felt herself flinch, she looked at Rogue, he was staring straight at her his eyes so dark they were almost black for a moment she thought she saw a flicker of hurt pass across his face, but it must have been a trick of the light as a wicked gleam appeared in his eyes and he blew her a kiss, Allegra flushed and turned back to her parents who were now involved in a heated discussion, her father telling his wife to apologize as she was insisting that there was no need as everyone knew he was beneath them! Rogue gave a polite cough
‘Sir if I may interrupt, whilst what happened was entirely my fault and was completely innocent I do understand what could happen and so even though Allegra would not be a wife I would choose for myself, I will be willing to do whatever’s necessary.’
‘What… you… but… oh…’ Allegra spluttered not sure what insult to throw at him first.
She was saved by her father’s interruption
‘Well if it’s true that nothing happened, then I thank you for your understanding and I apologise on behalf of my wife if her comment caused any offence’
Allegra’s father turned a reprimanding look at her mother who sat with her arms folded giving a very unladylike snort
‘now Allegra I will give you some time to think about it but I ask you to remember the consequences if you decide not to marry Rogue, after all not many secrets can be kept for long someone will be bound to report this.’
There was a knock at the door and Drake walked back in
‘I thought you all should know, I have informed Jupiter.’
And that someone would be him then, thought Allegra, the rat!
Sometime later Allegra sat in her bedroom at her white dressing table brushing her long white blond hair everything in her room was white in fact each room in the house was either white, cream or beige, she looked in the mirror at her pale skin and silver eyes and sighed she really needed a change everything around her seemed so bland she wanted colour in her life. Rogue looked like he could brighten any woman’s world! With his jet black hair, dark eyes and tanned skin not to mention all those muscles! She had to admit if she was to be completely honest with herself she’d quite enjoyed all the flirty comments he’d made over the past week and had tried hard to hold back her laughter a time or two to try and keep the haughty and indifferent expression on her face, but that glint in his eyes and self-assured grin was enough to make the blood rush through her body faster than it should.
So why didn’t she want to marry him? Because she was stubborn and despite him saying he wouldn’t have picked her for a wife she had a feeling he was lying and she was being manipulated after all he’d not shown himself to be clumsy before, Allegra thought of the incident that had left them in this position, she’d just come from the sauna on the first floor it was near her bedroom so even though they had guests she’d thought she’d be ok in just her robe but Rogue had come towards her said hi and the next thing she’d known he’d tripped, luckily he hadn’t knocked her over just fallen against her as she’d grabbed him to steady him unfortunately as he’d put his hands out to save himself her robe had slipped and that’s when Drake had stepped out of the shadows to ask what was going on as Allegra stood there arms around Rogue and Rogue stood with his hands on her bared breasts!
It had only taken her two minutes to pull on a white dress in her room before she was summoned to her father, Drake sure hadn’t wasted any time, thinking it over had got her thinking, Drake had come from the same direction as Rogue, Rogue also hadn’t spent too much time with explanations either with Drake or her father, had he planned this with Drake so she’d have to marry him? If so what was in it for Drake?
Why would he try to con her into marrying him he didn’t love her and she didn’t love him, except she thought she might they’d spent some time together lately and she found herself thinking of him when he wasn’t around, was that love? She did find him funny and smart and he was mouth-watering to look at.
She couldn’t help but think that he might want to marry a goddess because it could bring him power and status, most other supernatural looked down on shifters her mother wasn’t the only one to treat them like animals it was one of the things being discussed at the meetings and vampires were the worst for it so why would Drake want to help him?
She didn’t think she could marry a man who didn’t love her.
There was a knock on the door Allegra turned away from the mirror with a heavy heart they would be coming for her answer and she wasn’t sure her head said no but her heart screamed yes.
‘come in’ Allegra called placing her brush aside and standing. The door opened and in walked Rogue, he really did take her breath away he stood near the bed seeming to make the room smaller, the butterflies in her stomach got worse as he stalked closer to her.
‘Well’ he rasped staring deep into her eyes ‘will you marry me?’
The air felt tense as she tried to find the words not quite believing what she was about to say.
‘No I won’t’
The expression on his face turned thunderous
‘and may I ask why the hell not!’ He spat
‘I… I have my reasons’ Allegra replied nervously
‘oh well then that’s alright, we will have the wrath of hell descend on us all but it’s ok Allegra has her reasons!’ his voice was thick with sarcasm and raised with anger on each word. Allegra started to take a step back then paused she had no reason to feel guilty or embarrassed if he had planned this then it was all his fault!
‘do you really think I don’t know you planned all this! The only thing I don’t understand is why Drake helped you?’ she yelled lifting her chin defiantly and hands on hips.
Rogue tensed, looked away looking a little uncomfortable he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly before meeting her gaze again
‘your right I did plan it, Drake only agreed to help if I helped him with the witch Marina, the guys got a serious crush!’
He smiled a little warily at her, his face looking a little bit hopeful
‘You admit it?’ she whispered her heart felt as if it had plummeted into her stomach, he had planned it to gain power and he didn’t even have the decency to look ashamed!
‘Yes it seemed a good idea at the time!’
Fury was welling up inside her as she stared at him in disbelief
‘How could you!’ She screamed
Rogue looked taken aback
‘Now hold on a minute I only-‘
‘You only what?’ she interrupted letting the anger finally spill out ‘you only ruined my life just so you’d have power! Being married to a goddess would certainly help your status!’
Rogue gaped at her mouth wide open
‘You really think that’s why I did this?’
His eyes bore into hers intently he looked like he was trying to see into her soul and she wondered if she’d got it wrong
‘Damn! You really do think I want to marry you because I’m power hungry! I don’t I want to for this’
His hand reached out to cup the back of her head as he pulled her to him and lowered his head to kiss her, Allegra felt herself melt against him her hands entwining around his neck, wow she thought I never realized kissing was this good, I can even feel the ground move, the sounds of crashing jerked them apart as Allegra became aware that not only was the ground really moving but so were the walls and ceiling. She heard her mother scream and ran to the door Rogue close behind, in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs stood her parents, Drake, Marina and the other supernaturals, they all seemed to be frozen and a large red demon stood before them
‘STOP’ screamed Allegra
Rogue stepped in front of her
‘leave them alone,’ he shouted at the demon ‘take me it was all my fault but leave them alone’
That was the moment she knew that she really did love him as he stood bravely facing the demons belly button!
And judging by that kiss she was pretty sure he loved her
‘No wait I’ll marry him!’ she blurted as quickly as she could, the demon appeared to stare straight ahead but she knew as she held her breath that it was receiving instructions from Jupiter who could see through the demon, then his eyes fell to hers and he inclined his head towards her and vanished!
Everyone began to move again and her mother rushed over
‘My darling is you sure?’
Allegra hugged her mother then stepped back and held Rogues hand
‘I’m sure, after all what girl doesn’t want to marry the man she loves’
Rogue swung his head round staring wide eyed at her
‘You do?’
‘Yes from the moment I saw you!’
A huge smile spread across his face as he held her
‘And I loved you from that first haughty look!’
They kissed as everyone wandered off muttering about a wedding to arrange all except Drake who went over to them and coughed politely to part them when he had their attention he said
‘Don’t forget you owe me’
They all turned to watch the red haired witch as she walked to the lounge and Allegra thought how nice it would be to have a double wedding!
