A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Valerie

Sweet as Sin is a sometimes painfully emotional tale of two people afraid to take a chance on love. John Murphy is haunted by his horrific past. When he meet Livvy, his sexy new neighbor he is intrigued by the sexy pastry chef. John is sure that Livvy is a forever kind of woman and he is a one night stand kind of man. That doesn't stop him from wanting her though. As they grow closer, both fall deeply in love but John is too afraid to face his past or what his future could be with Livvy and this causes him to make a few mistakes along the path to their happily ever after.

This story is finely crafted, and a beautiful read. The characters are likeable and even though at times the scenes are painful the use of flashbacks to underscore not only John's past but the emotional and mental trauma he deals with almost daily helps the reader not only understand why John acts the way he does but helps the reader feel compassion and hope for John's future. Livvy is sinfully sweet, and readers will enjoy her underlying strength that helps see her through the tough times with John to what could possibly be their forever happy ending. While the story caused me to tear up in a few places, it more than made up for it by making me laugh in a few others and left me smiling at the end.
