Their Uncle Ronald has died and their sister Jolene has asked her sisters Valerie and Brea to return to the Oklahoma ranch where they grew up. Neither would have come except for their love of Jolene. They hated their uncle.
Valerie just finished her residency and is getting ready to join a family medicine practice in Dallas. She is divorced from the ranch’s foreman, Mason but has never lost the feelings she’s had for him. The problem is, they’re great in bed but have problems everywhere else. Valerie doesn’t see herself living on a ranch. She wants to be a doctor!
Brea is nothing like her sisters. She’s a bookworm. That doesn’t mean she can’t do ranch work, just that she loves to read romance. In Tulsa, she does computer work from her home. While Brea may fantasize about romance, she hides behind baggy clothes and shyness. This doesn’t stop her from checking out Gage training and taming the horses. Does that man have a butt!
Jolene has always stayed on the ranch. She loves it. In her mid 20s, she runs it like a pro and gets down and dirty with the guys. She’s always set her mind on what she wants and then goes for it but Walker keeps walking the other way. She knows he’s interested so what is the problem?
Jaci Burton does it again only this time with three great stories in one book! Each woman has her own story and in this book they are divided into what could be stand-alone books. Isn’t it great to get 3 for the price of 1?
The characters are fantastic. The men are strong and have a natural western flare that only a writer that has spent lots of time around the west could pull off. They women are sisters and squabble like them and love like them. It was a fantastic insight into the way a family works. None of the characters or stories was totally independent of the others as this is a working ranch and to work, you have to be a team.
This is foremost a romance and each woman gets her dream guy though not without trails and tribulations. No one was looking for happily ever after. In fact, Valerie didn’t want Mason around. While there is no set rule on how to romance your woman, they men know their women and know what turns them on.
Now, with romance you have to have sex…..okay, you don’t but it sure makes the story more interesting. Ms Burton does a great job with these scenes too. While they are graphic, they are essential to the storyline and are done with feeling. These men are obviously loving their women and I love it.
The absolutely worse thing that I can say about this book is its predictability. From the beginning you knew who was going to end up with whom and the women fell in love oldest to youngest. Okay, but I loved each story and who cares that I knew what the end result was going to be. Like many things, it’s the journey, not the destination, though the destination here was great.
As far as I’m concerned, Ms Burton has another winner. I didn’t want to put it down, even though I could have stopped at the end of each woman’s story. I couldn’t wait to see how each couple worked out their differences. Then, when it was over, I wanted more.
Sexy cowboys, strong women, romantic interludes, realistic setting and stories worth sharing make this book captivating.
