Six months after escaping a the serial killer Detective Cooper Thomas still is recovering from the attack and he still doesn't know what to do with the return of his old lover Alec Whitley. Alec is the only man Coop has ever loved but he had disappeared from Coop's life without leaving a note or a call. There wasn’t anything to let Coop what had happened to him.

Now Alec has returned and is trying to woo Cooper back into his life, hoping that Cooper might still have feelings for him. But when a copycat killing of a young gay man sends Cooper into a tailspin of fear will Alec be there to catch him and hold him safe.

When they are sent undercover to try and find this copycat killer they are shocked almost to death by who they find and what has really been going on.

Can Alec keep Cooper safe from his past and the present or will it tear them apart in death?

A Promise Given was very well written and it kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out who the killer was and what was really going on. There was quite a twist at the end of the book that had me gasping in shock and waiting to see what would happen next. The tension between Alec and Cooper was enough to make a good story but with the murder mystery and the twist at the end it was just wow.

Alec trying to make amends to Cooper was so interesting to read about. The love scenes as well as the plot were interwoven with just the right touch. Whew the love scenes were hot and oh so steamy they made my reader turn itself off just to cool down. I would highly recommend this sequel to “A Promise Kept”. It’s one I’ll keep in my keeper file and reread. Thanks Stormy for another good read that kept me on the edge of my seat.
