A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Roza
This was a very cool book all around.
I do wish the back-story of the Aunties had been explained better, and some of the other relationships between people, such as Choosing. Some things were just not clear to me because the characters all knew what was happening, so there was no reason to go into the details of How and Why. Aside from that, I had a good time.
The characters are nicely kick-ass and complicated, the enemies are similarly complicated, and the plot mostly moves forward in logical and reasonable ways. I particularly liked the magic mirror's attitude and role in the story. It would have been nice of the rest of the Fay were more involved, as they certainly seemed to care about the outcome, but I understand about being unwilling to get involved.
I am still not entirely sure what the yo-yos did or how they played a part, but it doesn’t seem to matter in the grand scheme of things.
