A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: PaulineMichael
With a fantastic cosy mystery Kat Holmes introduces one of the sexiest heroes I've ever met. Sheriff Craig Lewis is definitely a keeper and Rachel Westmont realizes that almost immediately. This story has a little bit of everything; gossip and a ghost, murder and a memoir and secrecy and scenery. For me the best part of the story was all the interesting personalities and their interactions. I particularly enjoyed the repartee between Craig and his sister. For me it was very easy to imagine just how Rachel felt when she first stepped on the island and became a new resident. The characters and the connections were the key elements for me and the mystery was an added bonus. It is one of those fantastic stories that is perfect to read curled up by the fireplace or lounging by the pool, and I cannot wait to see what else this author has to offer. Newly divorced Rachel Westmont moves cross country when she inherits a lighthouse from a previously unknown aunt. Rachel immediately falls in love with her new island home that is until someone tries to kill her. Now Craig Lewis, the gorgeous sheriff, has to protect her, find a killer, perhaps with the help of a ghost, while trying not to give in to his attraction for Rachel.

Book Blurb for The Lighthouse
When Rachel Westmont inherits a lighthouse from an aunt she didn’t even know she had, she’s overjoyed. The news couldn’t have come at a better time. Newly divorced from a self-serving doctor, the change of scenery is just what she needs. So she packs up and leaves California for a little island off the coast of Maine.
Rachel falls in love with both Star Island and the beautiful lighthouse and cottage she’s inherited. But, odd things begin to happen right from the first day. Cold chills permeate the cottage and books fly off the shelves. And someone seems to be playing pranks on her.
But when the ante gets upped and someone tries to kill her, Rachel must turn to hunky local sheriff Craig Lewis for protection. Now bodies are turning up, people are getting hurt, and Rachel is starting to suspect her aunt didn’t die a natural death. Can Craig stop a killer from claiming Rachel as their next victim? A little help from a ghost may be in order.
