A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Lilyraines

Chris is a man determined to make it on his own, leaving bad choices behind and going into an uncertain future. Considering his past, how does it explain Denny, a stranger that appears in his room the night before he is to leave the sober-living facility? And is someone who appears to Chris when it looks like Chris needs him most.

I really enjoyed reading this twist on invisible friends - both the story and the characters.

What drew me most to the story is that Chris, even at his lowest, knows that he won't make it without help and gets it. He wants to make it, though he knows that things aren't exactly in his favor. Denny is also another facet that drew me to the story - he is there for Chris for the highs and lows, even when Chris doesn't trust the why of things.

The ending was perfect for the story and I liked that it was a little open ended in an "I think I know what will happen, but....." kind of way.

Book Blurb for Visible Friend

Christopher Borgasian has spent the last seven months painstakingly breaking up with a lover he’s adored for three years: heroin. Now he’s trying to make it on his own—without the drugs, without the family that rejected him for being gay, and, seemingly, without a friend in the world.

The night before Chris leaves a sober-living facility to pursue his uncertain future, a stranger named Denny shows up in his room. From then on, Denny returns whenever Chris needs him the most, always vanishing as mysteriously as he appears. Chris desperately needs emotional and physical intimacy, but who is Denny, really? And can Chris believe in him when it also means believing in unconditional love?
