Scott Alan comes back to Duncan when he hears that his brother, Brian, was hurt on a logging job and is in the hospital.  Hank Ballam works for Brian, is a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and is treated as an outcast by the other loggers.  Scott and Hank meet at the hospital where Brian winds up.

Scott is a musician who has, for over ten years, lived in Toronto, but is ready for a change.  Feeling something for Hank, and seeing where that might lead, as well as seeing that his brother's injuries are not as bad as they could have been, precipitate more thought about what he wants out of life - and where he wants to be.

Hank, meanwhile, has contrasting aspects to his personality.  On the one hand, he loves the adrenaline that climbing and cutting trees provides. On the other, he enjoys the peace that exploring the mountains of his new home brings him. He is also more than a little shy, while being able to pull off a tough-guy act.

Will they be able to work something out?

I found Falling to be a very enjoyable read.  The interactions between the characters, and how those interactions defined the different relationships, made the book seem as if only a few minutes flew by and not a few days.  The easy relationship between Scott and Brian, the budding relationship between Brian and Kari, and how Scott's and Hank's relationship evolves are all intriguing.  I'm recommending the book!

When Scott Alan gets a phone call that his brother was hurt on a logging job, he rushes to Brian’s side, only to find that his injuries are minor—but not before he meets Hank Ballam, an adrenaline-seeking logger who's an outcast among his co-workers.

Hank is a study in contrast: he lives for the rush of climbing and cutting trees almost as much as he loves the peace he finds exploring the mountains he calls home. Scott’s attraction to Hank is immediate and mind-blowing, and it’s what Scott has always wanted: to know what it’s like to love someone he can’t live without.

Scott needs to know if Hank’s true feelings will be a roar of passion or simply a quiet friendship, one that doesn’t match Scott’s devotion. But it may be too late… Scott simply can’t help himself from falling hard for Hank.
