This is the book fans have been waiting for! Mickey O'Connor, the notorious river pirate, can't get Silence out of his head. He finds himself in a position where his greatest enemy will destroy anyone Mickey cares about. So he does what any criminal would do. He kidnaps his toddler daughter, Mary and brings her to his fortress/palace. If he has the girl, he will soon have Silence as well. Silence has been raising the little girl as her own since she was left on her doorstep as a baby. She suspected who the girl's father was but chose to ignore it. When it is discovered that Mary is missing, Silence is frantic. She goes to confront Mickey and get her daughter back. When he lays out the situation to her and refuses to let Mary out of his protection, Silence chooses to stay as well. Will Silence discover that there is more to Mickey than meets the eye? Will Mickey choose love? I am going to try really hard here and write a coherent review when all I want to do is jump up and down, shouting how much I loved this book. I can honestly say that this is Ms. Hoyt's best book so far. I have loved her work since she first debuted with The Raven Prince and that love has never wavered. She is still the only historical author that I read anymore and her books are so compelling that I devour them in short order. Mickey was a character that caught everyone's attention from his first mention in Wicked Ambitions. People were clamoring for more of him and Silence. I was slightly disappointed when Notorious Pleasures came out next and it wasn't about them. But Scandalous Pleasures was well worth the wait. Mickey is, in a word, delicious. He is the perfect bad boy! Silence is a wonderful heroine, perfect for Mickey. She stands up to him and makes it impossible for him to not fall for her. I can't say anymore, you just have to read it and experience this marvelous love story first hand. If I could give higher than 5 stars I would, as Scandalous Pleasures is sublime!
