A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Laurie-J

After losing her successful cosmetics business and giving up her beautiful penthouse apartment in Manahattan, Chantel Day takes up residence in her dad’s old hunting cabin. Practically broke, still Chantel is determined to clean up the ramshackle cabin deep in the Adirondack Mountains and make the best of her situation. She is surprised to find out that her old high school sweetheart is also back, and operates a nearby country inn called Hilltop Lodge. A widower, with a twelve-year-old daughter, Flynn McKenna and Chantel both regret their past mistakes, and are somewhat fearful of becoming involved now. Ella, Flynn’s daughter, also befriends Chantel and the two dream up an idea that might help ease Chantel’s financial woes.

This is a delightful novelette that had me staying awake late, so I could continue reading – I just could not put it down once I started reading. It is a fast-paced story, with a bit of mystery, that is well-edited and easy to read. The main characters are likeable, with distinctive personalities. The beauty of the surrounding terrain is described succinctly, but each word seems to deftly convey the ruggedness of the remote area. If you enjoy a bit of mystery, and humor, mixed with sweet romance, and characters with whom you can connect, then this book will appeal to you.

Book Blurb for After All These Years

Rating: Sensual Page Count: 112 | Contemporary Last Rose Of Summer Miniature

For Chantal Day success is the name of the game—until her cosmetics company is consumed in a hostile takeover, leaving her broke and homeless. With nowhere to go, she abandons Manhattan for the backwoods of the Adirondack Mountains and discovers an unexpected complication. Flynn McKenna, her old childhood flame, is back in Hilltop. Widowed with a twelve-year-old to raise, he isn’t interested in a difficult, baffling, sexy woman like Chantal tying his life up in knots. Again.

Twenty-five years ago they broke each other's hearts. Neither is looking for a repeat performance, but the chemistry between them won’t be denied. A trip to Summerville for Chantal’s high school reunion weakens the fragile connection they’re building.

Deep in the forest a decades-old threat lurks. After all these years will Flynn and Chantal be able to heal their wounds and find common ground before danger finds them?
