A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Jen719

Lady Anne Davers has been betrothed to Rhys Carlisle, Duke of Waverly since they were both young children. A week after their wedding, he receives disturbing news from his best friend, Simon Crathorne, that causes him to leave London mysteriously with no plans to return to his new wife. Lady Anne is heartbroken, and searches the countryside for her missing husband. When she finds him, he tells her that when they return to London their marriage will be over. She has only a matter of days to change Rhys’ mind in hopes of saving her marriage while trying to discover the secret that Rhys is desperately wanting to protect her from.

This book had me from the very first chapter of Rhys initial meeting with Anne as young children. It was a light-hearted romance that just seemed to sweep you away with its characters. Lady Anne was willing to do anything to save her marriage and be with the man that she has always loved. When Rhys told her the truth, it didn’t affect her. She was going to do whatever was needed to help her husband. One thing that I also enjoyed about this story was watching Rhys’ transformation throughout this book. He went from being an arrogant aristocrat at the beginning to a humble selfless loving individual that any woman would want by her side. This was a delightful romance that was very intriguing and kept me smiling until its conclusion.
