A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Diana Coyle
When Jack Hartwell hears his roommate’s cell phone ring, he realizes that Adam must have grabbed the wrong cell while he was racing out the door as not to miss his flight. Once Jack sees that it is Lori Duncan calling, who happens to be their next door neighbor and Adam’s ex, he figures it won’t hurt to answer it.
Lori has decided to act upon a comment Adam said to her when he broke things off with her one week ago. He said that she’s too predictable and boring and it just wouldn’t work out between them. To show Adam just how wrong he really is she decides to give him a surprise call so they can have phone sex together.
Jack realizes that the call is really meant for Adam, but Lori seems oblivious and steps up her act even more so by continuing to have phone sex with Jack. Ironically, as she’s describing what she wants to do to Adam, she lets it slip that she’s really describing Jack’s body instead. Jack is so stunned by this revelation, but pleasantly surprised because he has liked Lori from afar for quite some time now. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to start something romantic between these two.
Does Lori eventually realize that she’s talking to Jack and not Adam? Could this be the start of something great together or will it put a wedge between them?
I really enjoyed this short story and loved the interaction between Lori and Jack. The sex was hot and left me definitely wanting more. I wanted to see these two together and I had hoped that the phone call was a step in the right direction for them to hook up. If you’re looking for a hot, steamy read that leaves you breathlessly dying for more than you’ve found the perfect story to add to your library.
