A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Diana Coyle
When Josh Evans decides it’s time for him and his wife, Nicole, to move to Hamilton, Michigan because he feels he’ll have a shot at finally climbing the corporate ladder, he doesn’t really seem to care what Nicole thinks about this decision. Not wanting to cause any waves in not only their relationship, but also his career path, Nicole moves with him even though she really doesn’t want to leave her friends and family. Now trying to settle into a new city, Nicole does her best to setup their house to make both of their transitions easier. But never did she imagine that this new job would consume all of Josh’s time and in turn put a wedge in their relationship. Now she finds herself alone in a new place with no friends close by that she can turn to. That is until Adam Cahill, Josh’s sexy boss, seems to take a personal interest in how Nicole feels about everything. At first, Nicole takes Adams actions as being a concerned boss and wanting Josh and her to fit in, but soon their platonic friendship turns into something deeper and more meaningful for the both of them. Do Nicole and Adam continue their affair together? Do both of their spouses ever find out? What happens to everyone in the end? I found this story to be entertaining and it helped me to pass the time when I had a few minutes of downtime. I felt bad that Nicole seemed to feel ignored by Josh and he was too ignorant to see that he was quickly alienating his wife. Although I was happy that both Nicole and Adam found comfort within each other, I strongly disagreed that they had an affair while they were still together with their spouses. Having said that, I thought the storyline and character development was good overall.
