Lord Valentine Kent prides himself on his patience and control over his emotions, which has served him well in long search for his family's missing Crusader rose. It has been the one passion in his life. But that is threatened when Marissa Rotherhild lands on his doorstep for a visit invited by his brother who is gone, requiring Kent to spend time entertaining his guests.
Marissa, as a member of the Husband Hunters Club, has settled on Lord Kent's brother as a suitable husband. With her parents avid plant scholars, she has spent more time cold, wet and miserable searching for plants than she wants, and vows to marry a man instead with no interest in plants, and who will make her laugh. But Kent has an unsettlling effect on her, stirring attractions she wishes would stay dormant. Finally, Marissa decides to pursue the physical attraction she has with Kent, but vows not to marry him. After all, the whole purpose of the Husband Hunters Club is to end up with husbands that they chose, not to settle for husbands forced upon them.
Marissa and Kent spend their days chasing leads to the Crusader's Rose location, and their nights exploring each other's bodies, while still refusing to admit their true feelings for each other. Can these two overcome past hurts and build a future together, or will a threatening fellow rose hunter destroy it all?

With lots of steamy passion, darkly handsome lords, intrigue and danger, and hilarious and entertaining characters, this novel is a must read for fans of historical romance.
