Erika Bergstrom has had trying times in her life. Pregnant with twins at eighteen, finding out her husband is gay and divorced at 28, she is now 39 and her daughters are grown. So grown they gave her a gift certificate to a racy lingerie shop where she makes eye contact with Rodrigo Torbellino. The chemistry is instant and mutual, although she has trouble believing that. But when Rigo seduces her in the changing room and invites her out for a date, she decides to go for it. Could the red stilletos with the legend of providing the wearer with her heart’s desire have anything to do with it?
Rigo never believed the family history of love at first sight. But after seeing Erika he does. She will be his wife. After a phenomenal night together he is more convinced, but Erika is skittish so he lets her go with a promise from her she’ll call. But when Erika finds out Rigo is involved in business dealings with her family business, she backs off and doesn’t call.
Rigo is every woman’s fantasy. Gorgeous, rich, and nice. Add in determined and you’ve got a killer combination. Rigo was forceful without being pushy, seductive without being smarmy. Erika has problems with self-worth and self-esteem, and he’s patient and loving towards her, determined that she see herself as he sees her. When they meet again, she’s nervous he’ll think she was a plant to sway the deal, and while he’s taken aback he doesn’t buy into the cliché. A sexy and provocative seduction starts out the tale and it only gets better. Is it the shoes or Rigo’s family legend at work? Who cares, since two people who belong together found one another.
