Duncan has served as Raphael's man for over one hundred years. Through Reynolds' deft writing, we see Duncan through the years and evolve with him. Emma couldn't care less about vampire politics. She is looking for her best friend, Lacey, who has been hanging out with vampires of the wrong sort. When she has to make nice with the leading vampire in DC, Duncan, she does so in order to find Lacey. This is the fifth book in the Vampires in America series; while you can read this as a stand-alone, I highly, highly recommend you read all the books in the series. Reynolds' writing style is smooth and packs one heckuva punch.
