A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: AmyC
June 6, 1944 - Belle is part of the French Resistance, fighting for freedom from the Nazis that have taken control of her country. She feels most comfortable with a rifle in hand, and earns the respect of the Allied Forces, always sure of her actions. That is until Lieutenant Colonel A. Riese appears on the French shores for the long awaited invasion.
Ares wants to take part in this war, and he wants to win. When he encounters Belle, he can't resist this mortal woman with the face of a goddess and the heart of a warrior. Will the mighty Ares, Greek god of War, be defeated by love?
This was such an interesting twist to a World War II Historical Romance and a fantasy romance. I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology, and I always thought of Ares as a villain, heartless, cruel, but Ms. LaCroix has changed my mind. Ares was a hero who grew and changed during the course of the book. Hurt by the betrayal of Aphrodite, he swore off women and love until he meets Belle in occupied France.
Belle is a heroine I could really connect with. The pain she has suffered at the hands of the Nazi’s is not enough to stop her from risking her very life to free her country. She is a courageous heroine.
Some of the flashes between Mount Olympus and World War II were hard to follow, but it really didn’t matter as I found the hero and heroine engaging.
If you’re looking for a short, fun, sexy paranormal historical romance to read then Warrior Lover is for you.
