What trends are you seeing in paranormal and urban fantasy books lately?
I’m seeing a lot of angel books. Angels seem to be a phase that comes and goes. They were, at one point, supposedly the “new vampire”. I don’t think that took the way people expected but it is a popular niche.
This month I’m seeing a lot of wolves. Werewolves have always been running a close second in popularity behind the vampire. And witches, they’ve always been up there too. I see several new releases featuring witches that will be added to my must read list this month
What about you, what trends are you seeing? What would you like to see in paranormal and urban fantasy books that you haven’t yet?
As a longtime fan of vampires I would really love to see something new done with them. I like Chloe Neill’s take on the vampire world, it’s a bit of the normal we’re used to with some greta twists. Her newest is at the top of my must have list this month. House Rules: A Chicagoland Vampires Novel (Book 7) by Chloe Neill.
Other books on my must have list this month include: Soulbound: A Lone Star Witch Novel by Tessa Adams, This Wicked Magic by Michele Hauf; and Vampires Gone Wild by Kerrelyn Sparks, Pamela Palmer, Amanda Arista and Kim Falconer.
Other new releases being added to my Amazon wish list include: The Golden Age of Death (A Calliope Reaper-Jones Novel Book 5) by Amber Benson, Immortally Embraced by Angie Fox, Immortal Ever After: An Argeneau Novel (Book 18) by Lynsay Sands, Heart of the Demon (Warriors of the Rift Book 3) by Cynthia Garner, and A Howl for a Highlander by Terry Spear.
Omega (The Penton Vampire Legacy Book 3) by Susannah Sandlin is already on my Kindle waiting for me. Susannah is touring with Bewitching Book Tours this month and is offering a tour wide giveaway- readers have the chance to win a Kindle or Nook and book store gift cards.
Now it’s time for the Super Quick Author Interviews!
This month we have Linda Robertson and Erica Hayes (both touring with Bewitching Book Tours this month).
RR: Welcome Linda, let’s start by getting the name of your newest release and genre/category it falls into.
LR: SHATTERED CIRCLE / Urban Fantasy
RR: Can you describe your main character in 3 words ?
LR: Spunky, responsible, determined.
RR: Can you describe your heroine in one sentence?
LR: Persephone is driven to do what is right, and what is best for those she cares for no matter what this destiny of hers is about.
RR: Can you describe your hero in one sentence?
LR: Johnny also has a good heart and good intentions, but he is haunted by a past he can’t remember, and a future he doesn’t want. Menessos is ancient, and he bears the burden of guilt over what this world has become yet he sees in Persephone a way to make things right.
RR: What kind of paranormals or paranormal elements are in your book?
LR: Witches, sorcerers, demons, wærewolves, vampires, fairies, dragons, unicorns, phoenix, griffon, gods and goddesses. I plan to add a ghost soon.
RR: Without giving away details, Can you describe one interesting scene in your book in less than two sentences?
LR: Menessos took Goliath as his own when he turned him vampire, creating a strong bond. Now that Menessos has lost the haven and Goliath is taking it over, to ensure that Menessos is not using his connection to influence Goliath or continue his rule through it, that bond must be broken.
RR: In two sentences or less can you tell readers something unique about your book?
LR: It’s not the typical triangle between my witch, wærewolf, and vampire. Also, most UF and PR have an open or a closed world where everyone knows about the non-humans or only a few special people do; in my series, the non-humans revealed themselves 20 years prior so everyone knows, but the world is still struggling to deal with it both on personal and political levels.
RR: What’s the heat level of your book?
LR: There’s some sweet romance and some spice.
RR: And last but not least, where can a reader purchase your book?
LR: My books are available as mass-market paperbacks and as e-books. They can be purchased from most major booksellers, both on-line and in the usual bookstores. The indie dealers may not stock them, but can easily order them in for you. Thanks Night Owl Book Lovers Magazine!
Now it’s Erica’s turn for the SQAI.
RR: Welcome Erica Hayes let’s start with the name of your newest release and genre/category it falls into.
EH: REVELATION is an apocalyptic paranormal romance, the first in my Seven Signs series.

RR: Can you describe your hero in one sentence?
EH: A fallen angel warrior, cast out because long ago he sacrificed his duty for the sake of love.
RR: What kind of paranormals or paranormal elements are in your book?
EH: It's the Apocalypse, so expect angels – good, not-so-good and downright twisted ones – and selfish, power-mad demons, as well as zombies, bloodsuckers and other assorted minions of hell.
RR: Can you list three adjectives that describe your book as a whole.
EH: Dark, apocalyptic, romantic
RR: What’s the heat level of your book?
EH: I'd call it sizzling.
