Thrown By A Curve

A Play-by-Play Novel

Don’t think that this is another romance with a hot sexy professional sports player as the male lead and a simpering, submissive female. That is so not this book. Yes the male lead is sexy professional baseball player, Garrett Scott, but he’s also short-tempered and use to getting his own way until he meets up with strong willed and very out spoken sports therapist, Alicia Riley. Their battle of wills can be explosive. It may take a while before they act on the sexual attraction that is simmering but once they do the sex is sizzling and just as focused as the therapy they have been doing. Once of the things that makes this book so outstanding though is the incorporation of friends, family and co-workers. The characters don’t operate in a vacuum but in the real world which includes nosy family, divorce and supportive friends. Ms Burton takes a world that most people watch in awe and makes us a part of it and turns sports heroes into real everyday people. Though this is part of a series, it can be read without having read any of the previous books as they each stand alone. However, the Riley family are central characters in all of them so expect to see them throughout all of the books.

Alicia Riley is good at her job as a sports therapist but she almost loses it when she opens her mouth and insults not only their client, a professional baseball player, but her boss. Good thing the client, Garrett Scott likes her blunt speaking and can see the truth in what she said. So, instead of being fired, she’s in charge of his therapy. Her methods are sometime unconventional but conventional methods haven’t been working on Garrett. And, he’s in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can use the sexual attraction that they feel to get out of any of his workouts. But, to act on that attraction will put Alicia’s job back on the line. Does she dare act on it? On the other hand, how can she not?

Book Blurb for Thrown By A Curve

She thinks she knows this player—but he has a few surprise moves.

For Alicia Riley, her job as a sports therapist for the St. Louis Rivers baseball team is a home run—until she becomes the primary therapist for star pitcher, Garrett Scott. Out of the lineup with an injury, he’s short-tempered, hard to handle, and every solid inch, a man.

Right now, the only demand he’s making on Alicia is that she get him ready to pitch in time for opening day. Except the sexual chemistry between them is so charged, Alicia’s tempted to oblige Garrett just about anything. But both their careers are at stake—one bad move and it’s game over for both of them.

Garrett also feels the hot sparks between them, and the way he figures it, what better therapy is there than sex? Now all he has to do is convince the woman with the power to make the call.
