A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Vicci

Handmade Chic by Laura Bennett is a great blueprint for creating a series of stunning mixed media accessories either on a budget or the sky's the limit.

If you are handy with a sewing machine, know you measurements and are not afraid to try new things? Then this book is a treasure trove of some hot and exciting styles that will fuel your creative juices. One of the things that I really like about this book is its attention to detail. Each of the featured designs from belts to iPad cases provides a reader with meticulous instruction; the cutting, folding and placement of each component. Its illustrated digraphs add a dimensional aspect that is sometimes missing in other how to books.

Although the book does include a variety of suggested materials and alternative medias, some readers may find it frustrating that not all are available to the general public and may need to be purchased on a wholesale basis.

Generally speaking I found the book to be concise and very informative for the creative designer.

While showcasing her own creative designs, she provides readers with the basic techniques and encouragement they need to come up with variations and create their own signature pieces.

Packed with Laura’s signature flair and finesse, vibrant four-color photos, step-by-step drawings, and
