A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Bmac

Rhett the Wonder Dog debuts in this chimerical satire about human greed and corruption. Rhett the “doxie” was born a runt to a litter of Dachshund brothers and sisters who towered over him. His shy and reserved temperament results in many possible adoptive families passing him by for more lovingly demonstrative and extroverted pups. One day he is spotted by a high school senior who falls instantly in love with him and gives him a loving and caring home.

Soon after his adoption, it becomes apparent that Rhett is no ordinary puppy. He has uncanny, almost unbelievable healing abilities. Just a lick of his magical-seeming tongue can heal any malaise that a person can have. Upon being discovered, the media is in an uproar trying to locate and interview the miraculous healer, and the American Medical Association (AMA) and several hospitals immediately take an antagonistic stance against the healer for actually healing the patients they were treating.

Pointed and enjoyable, this is well worth the read.

Book Blurb for Doxology

Rhett Butler, the runt of a litter of dachshunds, is born with magical healing powers. Working with his master he begins to heel various infirmities until the AMA learns about him and goes after him for actually healing patients. What was this dog? Why did he have such healing powers? Was he a dyslexic's version of God? Or was Jesus too busy walking around another Holy Land on some other planet and the best Earth could get was Christ's dog? Doxology attempts to answer such theological questions with a dachshund that makes Lassie look like a slow learner.

A whimsical and satiric short work from our Nibs literary line.
